Maybe I should go ahead and put one of those movies on. Perhaps Goblet of Fire. Hrmm.

I am doing this meme because I Kathy said so and I love her so I shall comply.
1. What charity are you blogging for, and why? I am blogging for the UNHCR because of all the work they do for so many displaced people around the world. I complain frequently about my life – not all of it of course, but the wah, this sucks part. But the people helped by the UNHCR are beyond anything I’ve ever had to go through. Of course, I care about the men and women too, but a great deal of refugees are children. The thought of innocent children who flee their homes because of war and fear of persecution, who end up in refugee camps in other countries and can’t return home, who saw their families killed or don’t know their location, who are hungry and sick and terrified… the thought destroys me. The money raised by the UNHCR allows them to give these children – and adult refugees too – clothes, shelter, medical attention, and the chance to try to find their families. I can’t say enough good things about them.
2. What’s been the hardest part of the Blogathon for you, so far? Well, it’s still “only” 1:20 am, so the hardest part is yet to come. So far the hardest has been the fact that I started out tired. It was also pretty tough juggling the kids, supper, and the ‘thon at once, but I did it!
3. Did you have a sponsorship goal? Have you met it? (Use this space for shameless panhandling. It’s OK. I told you to.) I wanted to raise more than I did the last time, so more than $300. At this time I am up to $1300+ and I am overwhelmed by the generosity. I can’t thank my sponsors enough. And though I certainly more than exceeded my goals, you can obviously still sponsor me no matter how little it is. However, if I don’t get another pledge from here on, I am more than thrilled with what I’m raising.
4. What’s been fun for you, so far? Following my friends, getting comments from friends and new people alike, and finding new reads.
5. Have you met anyone new and cool? Yes! Shirt Ninja!
6. Assuming it were possible, would you choose, right now, to time-travel back to the beginning of the Blogathon, with an unflagging supply of energy, or to the end, exhausted but finished? Take me to the end, baby.
7. What have you been eating today? Mostly my regular fare, healthy-ish meals and drinking lots of water. I usually have a few cookies or chocolate at night but tonight I will be eating more than normal. 🙂
8. So… whatcha wearing? A smile. Ha! No, a pink nightgown.
9. Quick! Three truths and a lie: I sang background on a hiphop song once. I did something illegal with Corey Haim. I went scuba diving off the coast of Mexico. I stole a flag right out of the cup on the 9th hole on a golf course.
10. What do you most want, right this second? (Use this space for shameless begging, as well. Who knows? There may be a Blogathon fairy!) A house. Got one of those lying around?
Okay make your guesses on number nine, though I know that some people already know some of the answers.
You know what I’m really in the mood for? A beer. I still have the chips and I could really enjoy a nice, cold glass of beer right now. I don’t think that would be a good idea though. Even a lone beer could make me sleepy and that would be a bad thing. Instead I’m drinking water in a Heineken glass. That will do!
Movie’s almost over. Then I think I’ll take a break for a bit so I can post somewhat more involved posts (haha).
Hey, I also realized, my monitor – Jim – was really sick and had to back out today and take on the alternate schedule. Who’s my monitor now? I’d love for you to say hi!
I know what would probably be really helpful later on – having a yard. I can’t go for a walk of course, not with the kids here, but if I had a yard I could at least take the monitor with me and go out there. I suppose I could go on the balcony but all I can really do out there is sit down. I’d look pretty silly walking back and forth on the balcony like a pacing lion. 🙂
I might do it anyway. And I’m not really in the mood to have a shower, but I might at least splash some cold water on my face. I think the caffeine has magically removed itself from my body but I don’t want another actual coffee right now. Not yet, I need to save it for much later.
Still, only 8.5 hours to go! I figure that refugees go without sleep for much more than 24 hours and they don’t have the luxury of sitting in front of a computer while they’re up. If I can stay awake and keep posting every half hour until 9 tomorrow morning, I will have raised a great deal of money for refugees, so I’m going to suck it up!
I completely forgot. Food and Hostel? They really don’t mix well. Perhaps I will save these chips for AFTER the movie is over. Sheesh.
Time is still passing pretty quickly. We’ll see if it’s still slipping by at 4 am.
Wow, that coffee I had earlier really helped! I can’t believe how much better I feel than I did before I drank it. I know it’s still going to get rough in the wee hours of the night, but at least I don’t feel like I’m falling asleep anymore.
Watching a movie while sitting on the floor helps too. I couldn’t decide which Harry Potter movie to watch so instead I’m watching Hostel. I’ve seen it before, it’s extremely screwed up but it’s really good too. At least, it’s good if you don’t mind a lot of gore. Eli Roth is the bomb.
The one drawback to watching a movie is that, although I am awake, I nearly missed my posting time. Oops! I’d better keep one eye on the clock while I’m watching the movie!
Serina asked me for the view from my favorite chair. Well, I don’t necessarily have a favorite chair – some day I’d love a nice recliner or a big overstuffed and stupidly cozy chair. Maybe even a papa san. Those are great too.
However, if we go by favorite = the chair in which my ass most frequently resides then that would be my chair at my desk where my desktop computer is. It’s in the corner of the living room so this is my view when I turn right:
That’s the phone on the floor, which I use as a baby monitor, and beside it is the remote for the DVD player. Those are all movies on the bookshelf in the left hand corner, the hutch belonged to my grandmother, and the other shelf used to be all books but the bottom two shelves are now toy storage.
And this is what’s straight in front of me:
You’ll note the Harry Potter collection of course. You have no idea how much it bugs me that book six is so much bigger than book seven.
Back to my movie!
I haz coffee. And thank god for that. I feel like I’m hitting a wall and it’s way too early for that so I’m halfway through a cup of caffeine and I ate a Mars bar. I don’t want to eat too much chocolate at once lest I end up finishing Blogathon with a massive stomach ache.
What with all the frantic craze of trying to convince Breanna – who usually loves sleeping – that it was indeed time to close her eyes and go to bed, I didn’t really notice that I had gone past the halway point. But I did! While I was trying to get Breanna to sleep the mid-point hit Blogathon. I’m now on the other side, and there are fewer hours left than hours put in. This is good, it’s encouraging!
I think I’m going to finish my coffee while I start watching a movie. If I sit on the floor I’ll be less likely to fall asleep than if I sit on the couch.
Whew. She finally gave in and fell asleep. I was ready to cry. Indeed, it was probably a combination of the fact that she slept until 3:!5 (past 3 pm naps screw up bedtime) and the fact that I was stressed out about getting her to sleep.
Luckily, I ran out with her, posted that last entry and ran back and she went to sleep about 10 minutes later. And it wasn’t all bad, ABC was airing The Princess Diaries 2 and as sad as it may be, I love those two movies.
And now it is quiet. It is time for coffee and chocolate. Lots of chocolate.
This is SO not the day for Breanna to be pulling this crap at bedtime.
PLEASE make her go to SLEEP.
