Storm clouds

Looks like I was lucky to be up to see the sun, because if this keeps up, we won’t see much of it today.

I don’t really care since I’m not planning on going anywhere other than bed later today. Just as long as there’s no thunderstorm that knocks out my power, it will all be fine. If I have to deal with a power failure this close to the finish line (come on last two hours, let’s go!), I will freak right out.

Must.hang.in.

The sun is officially up.

Breanna is finally down and sleeping again. She had a big screamfest 15 minutes ago and I managed to get her to fall asleep. She’s lying on the couch cushions that I have spread on the floor. She looks so cozy that I would love to curl up next to her but I must resist.

Instead, I am having a Mars bar for breakfast. Because that screams HEALTHY.

Two and a half hours to go. I can do this. It helps that I drank so much water, coffee, and tea that I need to pee every five minutes.

This can't be good

I’ve officially reached the silly and screwed up phase. First example – I decided to change Breanna’s diaper (yes, she’s STILL up) and I meant to say, “let me change your diaper” but what came out of my mouth was, “let me change your envelope.” WTF?

Second example – while preparing to write this entry I had to sit and stare in confusion for a minute before remembering how to post something.

At this point, there isn’t enough coffee in the world that could properly wake me up. If an emergency occurs right now and I have to be alert and awake for the rest of the day, I would have to first stop off downtown and find someone selling cocaine.

Changing sky

I’m not usually up for the sunrise hour. The sun’s still not really up yet but it’s so light out now.

Awhile ago it was this beautiful indigo that I love so much.

Then it lightened to turquoise (pardon the blur – no flash through the window).

And out the back you can see the approaching gold of the sunrise on the way.

This made it worth it

Obviously, there are many good reasons for doing the Blogathon this year. However, if I had to pick one non-obvious good reason, it would be that by being up for this, I got to see the full moon turn a deep, fiery orange before it sank below the trees.

I came so close to waking Hayley up just to let her see it.

I'm not asleep

And you know what? Neither is this little monkey:

George was up anyway, mixing some music, and then Breanna inexplicably woke up. Completely woke up. I figured it was easier to just go with it than fight it when 20 minutes had passed and she was still sitting up in bed talking to me about Elmo, so I brought her out. She was very pleasantly surprised to see that George was up too. She also wanted to know where Hayley was but I draw the line at her waking her anti-sleep sister up.

This isn’t all bad. For one thing, she’ll help to keep me awake. Also, she’ll probably be really funny when I get to the giddy phase, which I feel approaching. And finally, she’ll probably sleep in tomorrow once she finally goes back to sleep later. I hope.

And it was worth it to see her insane excitement when I showed her the full moon out front.

Wilting

Well, clearly I am not looking quite as refreshed as I did earlier today when I was coiffed and somewhat perky.

Note to self – At some point in time you might want to consider renewing your relationship with your tweezers and do something with those eyebrows.

In my hand is a bag of delicious finger cookies, covered in dark chocolate. They are delicious and it took a great deal of self-restraint to close the bag and stop eating them.

Holy crap

Okay seriously. I remember my first Blogathon, and at one point you start getting really, really tired and you’re not sure you can keep going and you wonder if you’ll make it to the end… and then all of a sudden, the wall breaks and this euphoria hits you out of nowhere. Things get silly, absolutely everything is hilarious, and you have entered the giddy phase.

Well, dude, that giddy phase can hit me ANY TIME NOW because I am so sleepy and all I can think about is bed, bed, bed.

Uh, whoops!

I almost forgot what I was doing. I looked at the clock a few minutes ago, did a double take, stretched, and thought to myself, “man! I should really go to bed, I’m going to be SO tired tomorrow!”

Then I remembered, oh yeah – I can’t go to bed, that’s the whole point! Good thing I’m not so out of it that I spaced out and went to sleep without remembering. That would be even more lame than falling asleep by accident.

And also, I just stuck my head out the window for some fresh air and good lord that is a super bright, large full moon.

I never should have mentioned Harry Potter

Because now all my train of thought is in the Potterverse. Don’t worry, I would never spoil anyone who hasn’t read the last book yet (what are you WAITING for?!), because people who spoil stuff suck.

However, this cracked me up way more than it should have. Behold the lost manuscript that JK Rowling never finished:

HAHAHA! Er… You *have* seen the original Justin Timberlake Saturday Night Live skit, right? Because otherwise that makes no sense at all. Here’s the video if you haven’t seen it. Actually, I’m going to come back to this entry and watch it again in about two hours, when I hit that “holy crap I’m tired and stupidly loopy” phase.
