Jealousy is an ugly trait. It’s usually pointless and only serves to make you feel worse about yourself and it’s something I don’t like to indulge in, but I am only human and sometimes I just can’t help myself.
So I confess. I am a jealous bitch tonight, and unreasonably so to boot.
I am jealous that tomorrow is Thanksgiving for Americans. Because I want turkey and stuffing and casseroles and pumpkin pies and family dinners too!
This is highly unreasonable because hello? I just celebrated Thanksgiving last month with all the other Canadians. We had ours, I stuffed myself happily and was quite pleased so I have no reason to be all green-eyed that tomorrow is just a regular Thursday for me.
Still, when you’re carving your turkey or serving a delicious plate of pumpkin pie, please think of me. And know that I’m salivating.
Being a Canadian in the US, it’s sort of funny because the US seem to take their thanksgiving day pretty seriously. Back home, it only meant a large meal, here it really kicks off Christmas and of course it’s all about the football! Whole different holiday to me! =)
And then there is us Aussies who have no Thanksgiving at all….poor us!! We have to be jealous twice!
I’m British and I don’t get Thanksgiving at all either. But I am going for a curry at the weekend, which is almost as good, as far as I know.
this is cute! don’t be jealous, though. you can recreate thanksgiving at your place! just get all your meanest relatives together, make a turkey and you’re all set. oh, and celebrate the fact that your people took over a country that was already inhabited. go, americans!! haha!
Kerries last blog post..Thanksgiving Confession
I’m an equal opportunity Thanksgiving kind-of guy. I celebrate with the Canadians. Then I celebrate with the US crowd. I came within a whisker of clicking the enter key to wish a gal in Scotland a Happy Thanksgiving when it hit me I might be making a wee mistake. No biggie though. A day when you cook some reasonably priced meat, some reasonably priced vegetables, some reasonably priced stuffing … well, OK I added some chopped up chestnuts and dried cranberries to mine (wow) and a reasonably priced dessert. Heck, I might have to add a third Thanksgiving holiday to the calendar. Here’s one for Australia … the Fosters is on me (if you can catch me … lol).
