I missed who said this, but I heard it on Canada A.M. while trying to wake up this morning. It may have been CTV news correspondent Tom Clark, or he may have been repeating what someone else said, but whomever said it, I love it:
“Rosa Parks sat so Martin Luther King could walk. Martin Luther King walked so Barack Obama could run. Barack Obama ran so our children could fly.”
And despite being exhausted from staying up way too late to watch Obama’s speech and then getting woken up by the alarm clock far too early this morning to walk the dog and get Hayley ready for school, hearing that quote was such a great way to start the day.
Everyone on the news keeps using the word “historic” to describe the election results. Forget historic. Try epic.
I love that quote Sherry – I’ll be typing it up and using it many, many, MANY times in the next week. Thank you for it.
I cried this morning. For the first time in a very, VERY long time, I’m extremely proud to be an American and to have voted.

I know there are a lot of people trying to be PC and say this isnt about race, and they’re right it isnt, but that doesnt change the fact that we elected a black man as president of the US. The very fact that it ISNT about race is what makes that SO monumental!!

Oh, Sherry, that’s an awesome quote. The morning just started and I’m already all teared up again!
And that was what I kept saying last night–“this is EPIC. This is so fucking EPIC.”
That’s really nice – I think that is probably my favorite quote too!

We’re VERY happy to have Obama! Our vehicles have been sporting Obama stickers for many months despite being stuck in a red state! =D
Both of my parents were in tears that night. Big changes are coming!
