I once took a picture of my grandmother’s house and it looked like this:

Long-time readers know that the house was sold after being in the family for several generations and that it was hard on everyone. I went up north for the first time since it was torn down. And standing at the window in the place my grandmother is renting, I looked across the street to where that house used to be and this is all there is.

For perspective, the tree in the bottom image is the same one on the far right of the first one.
Her new place ischeaper to maintain, much easier to care for, and seriously cute. But it’s not THE house. Like a small town really needed a bigger fucking parking lot for one of their grocery stores.
(For anyone who’s curious, I did a mini-tour over here for my sister.)
I knew I didn’t really want to read this entry of yours. Both the entry and the tour made me break down and bawl for a few minutes, but I am glad that you put that up 🙂

that’s so sad 🙁 Time marches on, but it can be a painful thing.
I just kept looking back and forth between the pictures and it’s so hard to believe it’s even the same place? You’d never know the house was even there?
I hate when this kind of thing happens in small towns. I’ve seen it recently, where I live (population – 3,200) in order to build a new parts store. There was already a perfectly decent parts store up the street but they bought out several houses (for the price of dirt) just to build an identical one. It’s so sad to lose a family home, it doesn’t seem to help if Nanny has a nicer, easier to maintain place huh? Keep the memories close to your heart, Sherry. I would blow up that picture of the house and frame it for the girls to have when they’re grown. It was such a cute, quaint little house.
xo,
Ang
SHERRY I WAS WONDERING IF YOUR GRANDMA IS HAPPY THERE. IT’S REALLY A NEAT PLACE. SINCE SHE IS STILL IN THE SAME NEIGHBOR HOOD,MAYBE SHE STILL HAS HER OLD FRIENDS THERE, SOME ONE TO VISIT ONCE IN A WHILE.
hi sherry,
it’s dad and hopefully you will get this. the pictures were great and so were the comments, especially about the little house. When you think of all the work that I put into all the things I built and now it is all gone!!! Just because some ignorant asshole wanted a bigger store, (which I hope catches fire and burns to the ground)I’ll be cheering so loud they won’t have to wonder where I am.

Hi sherry, how are you doing? I look at these pctures every day and only wished my printer worked so I could have a lasting memory. I would not start the fire but I sure would cheer it on. I look at the pictures and I can’t believe he did this. Well that’s it for now and if you ever get your printer working plese print these pictures. Thanks
Dad
Hey Dave, welcome to the blog. I’ve heard so much about you over the past years 🙂
It’s great when dad’s discover the internet. Mine has only recently gotten online as well, he caught up with mom on technology (mom was a typist who had to learn her way from a simple mechanical typewriter all the way trough a unix workstation to end up with wordperfect on a windows machine), and knows even more than she does about computers now.
My mom was forced to sell her mothers house because somebody wanted to put an appartment block there, only afterwards we found out that the lady who was running the project miscalculated the plans and is not allowed to build as close to the church that is behind the backyard as she wanted to. The house is still there, but we don’t own it anymore. It’s been empty for years now.
Don’t get caught by the police when accidents happen around that store, ok ?
Hey Sherri! You know the worst thing about the new Metro? (For those of us who still shop there) is that we now have to go all the way to your Grandma’s backyard to pick up our milk! LOL
Don’t worry about the fire at the store as I would’t set it on fire. I wouldn’t stop anyone from doing it though and would cheer him/her loudly. But I am not a criminal so don’t worry.(any takers???) Only kidding. So you’ve ben talking about me hey Sherry. All good things I am sure, as what else is there to say about me. See you all later and write to me whenever you want. Talk to you all later.
Dad, I once wrote a funny entry about the time you got mad and overturned someone’s shopping cart when they wouldn’t stop banging into your ankles at the checkout. And I remember comparing my love of grocery shopping to yours since you’re the only person I know who enjoys it as much as I do.
(By the way, if you go click on “Home” to the right up at the top (or just click the big banner image with Hayley and Breanna), it will take you to the main page, I’m not sure if you know that there’s a lot more here than this one entry about the house. 🙂
