Hayley back at home

Hayley left here shortly after lunch yesterday. She swam and played in the hot tub all day, then she went to McDonald’s with us for supper, saw Ice Age 3, then had a heck of a time settling down at a sleepover at her friend’s house.

She then spent today swimming and hot tubbing again, went out to run errands, and then had supper over there when we joined them all. To say she is EXHAUSTED is putting it mildly.

Big girl

Not that she would ever admit. Never EVER.

Start the countdown to see how fast she passes out in bed…

The survival kit I got from the store

The four things I got from the store just now as part of my survival kit:

1. Caramilk chocolate bar
2. Dairy Milk chocolate bar
3. Root beer (blech, but eh, caffeine)
4. Cream soda (no caffeine but sugar and TASTY!)

And of course I have coffee here at home which I will be making soon.

I just realized though that I’m past the half way point now. It’s unfortunate that it’s also the point where I start to get a bit tired but I’m not giving up now, I’ll make from here on out!

I’m back home now, and ready to settle in for the night with some movies and some browsing between posting. Keep me company!

Think James Brown

Cute James Brown…

Hot! In the hot tub!

Ready to go

That’s the satisfied face of someone who ate a delicious BBQ dinner, had good conversation, and is now about to get into the hot tub.

No, no pictures of that, sorry! 😀

Things my kids can fight over

This morning Breanna told me, “I wish Hayley was here” with a big sigh. Now that they’ve been re-united they have fought over many things, as siblings often do.

Things my kids can fight over: (this is in no way a comprehensive list!)

1. Which color plate they get.
2. Who gets the special lizard-motif cup.
3. Who got to the table first.
4. Who gets to run first in the park entrance.
5. Who is going higher on the swing.
6. Who sings better.
7. Who dances better.
8. Who IS better.
9. Etcetera Etcetera Ad nauseum

Many days I feel I should call my mom and apologize on behalf of my sister and myself.

Ready for a late dinner

I would post some photos of the delicious salad and sausages and rice that we’re about to eat for dinner but uh, I’m just going to go at eat them instead. I’m sure you’ll forgive me.

I promise that I’ll be back to longer posts eventually but right now I am just hungry!

What would keep me out of a swimming pool

As you may have guessed by now, I love to swim. It’s not because I’m a great swimmer, because while I can do a good breast stroke and a surprisingly decent side stroke (surprising because who the hell ever needs a side stroke?), I’m not a strong swimmer by any means.

Still, I love to be in the water. Maybe it’s astrological – I’m a Cancer, I’m happiest in or near water.

I just went out and stuck my toe in my friends’ pool and it’s pretty chilly and it’s getting later now (almost 7:30 pm) so it’s probably not going to get much warmer any time soon.

But I’ll probably go in just because Breanna’s too small to go in without me, even with the life jacket. So…

The only things that really keep me out of a pool:

1. Water that is below 75F. Yesterday just made the cut at 76F.
2. A thunderstorm. For obvious reasons.
3. Ummm… Oh, I know! Not having a bathing suit of my own with me or one I can borrow.
4. I don’t know, drunkeness making it dangerous?

Yeah, so not much will keep me out of a pool!

Friends and summer

This is my favorite thing about summer. I’m over visiting friends, my kids are playing with their daughter (Hayley has been here since yesterday afternoon), we have corn on the cob about five minutes away from being ready, sausages are prepped for grilling out on the BBQ, I’m drinking a glass of red wine (very VERY slowly so it doesn’t make me tired on a day where I have to stay up for 24 hours straight), and I’m having a fabulous time.

After supper I’m going to change into my bathing suit and hop in their pool and enjoy the cool water.

This is what winter can never ever touch.

That was taken at home on my balcony about five minutes before I got the phone call that we were coming over for supper. Happy!

Five things I love to eat outside in the summer

Since we’re visiting friends and having a BBQ here are…

Corn chefs
(Cleaning the corn on the cob for supper!)

Five things I love to eat outside during the summer months:

  1. Corn on the cob – we’re having this tonight
  2. BBQ Sausages – also having this
  3. Burgers – they just taste better in the summer than inside on a grill
  4. Salads – Summer salads are the best and are perfect outside
  5. S’mores – enough said!

A different vantage point

Woohoo! I was all settled to just stay in when George called and said our friend was on her way to pick up both myself and Breanna. We’re at their house now and we’ll be having some supper, some pool time, and some fun – but don’t worry, I’ll still be here to update every half hour because I brought my laptop and my camera. I’m ridiculously efficient when I need to be!

Five things that have caused me to have panic attacks

I suffer from panic attacks periodically. Here are…

Five things that have given me panic attacks over the years:

1. Grade ten. All of it. I should NOT have been put in advanced chemistry man.
2. Banks. Banks freak me out without fail, I don’t know why. I just know online banking is literally a lifesaver for me.
3. Crowded malls. It’s not the crowds so much, just the crowds IN a mall.
4. Meeting a bunch of new people all at once at parties or whatnot. Unnerves me.
5. HAVING MY SITE CRASH during Blogathon. Holy crap. But I think I’m back, whew!
