Poor Hayley caught my cold and has been miserable for a few days (though she’s better today – luckily it’s a horrible but short cold). She spent a great deal of time whining and occasionally shrieking, “My nose! I need to blow my nooooose!” Constant whining is a little, uh, wearing on the nerves but I could hardly blame her; after all she was just vocalizing the exact way that I felt while I was in the throes of cold-hood last week.
Yeseterday morning she decided to stay in her pajamas, then she snuggled into her Winnie the Pooh chair with her “special blanket” (a really nice homemade quilt that she can not sleep without, no matter how hot it is). We also battled the germs with a homeopathic remedy of cuddling on the couch to watch “A Bug’s Life” with lots of liquids. It’s true, it’s an age-old remedy! I also brought in a little bit of my own family by channeling my sister – when she was a kid she always called chicken noodle soup “magic soup” because it always makes you feel just a little better, even if only temporarily. I made a big pot of it for Hayley, told her it was magic soup to help her cold and she happily ate it, even the noodles.
She had a good sleep last night, although I let her stay up later, just past 9 pm because it was the “Canadian Idol” finale and I knew Kalan Porter was going to be performing. She was really happy to be able to stay up long enough to hear him sing, then she applauded him and laid down, falling asleep within about ten minutes. I don’t medicate her during the day unless it’s really truly necessary but before bed I gave her some Tylenol decongestant and it really helped her sleep well the past two nights.
George has it now and he says he feels like shit but I’ve assured him that by tomorrow he should feel much better. It’s really just the first two or three days that suck and then after that it’s just residual blahness. I blame my glucose screen a couple of weeks ago for bringing the cold into our household; it was the only place I went where I could think of possibly catching a cold. Alas.

aww i hope she feels better! jasmine has the same thing except shes been puking she just feels miserable today
