When I was a kid I always loved getting new toys. Now that I’m an adult I have to say I haven’t quite outgrown my love of toys, just that my idea of what a toy actually is has changed.
(Don’t be a perv, that’s not what I mean!)
As anyone who knows me is aware, I love taking pictures. I’ve been taking them with my Canon Rebel XT for several years now and it’s what prompted me to learn how to actually use a camera. On the XT I learned about things like aperture, shooting in manual, and what RAW files are. It was a great educational tool.
Sadly it was dying a slow but inevitable death. Luckily I am fickle and still love new toys.
Hence I am now the happy owner of a Canon T1i and I am eager to see the results of my new baby. I would share some of my test shots but alas, it seems that the RAW files from the T1i are not compatible with my software so I’m on the hunt for something new to play and convert to JPG.
That will have to wait though since tomorrow is Breanna’s birthday and I must head off to sleep to prepare for the party tomorrow. Five years old in the a.m. I don’t even know how that’s possible.

The camera should come with a copy of Digital Photo Professional which allows you to read RAW files as well as make changes to them and convert to JPEG if you want to make additional changes in Photoshop. Make sure to update to the latest version which you might have to Google since it was difficult to find on Canon’s site.
Yeah, I have that and I’ve used it in desperation but I just REALLY don’t like it at all. I like the way it works in Photoshop with the Camera Raw plugin and I an not enjoying using Digital Photo Professional. I guess it’s just a matter of not being used to it but I’m turning into that “get off my lawn” kind of person where I don’t want to change once I really like something. 😀
