A video that made me laugh

I have to say that I kind of hate myself for saying this, but I love Paris Hilton this morning. If you haven’t already seen the John McCain ad that uses a flash of both Britney Spears and Paris Hilton (basically claiming Barack Obama is more of a celebrity than a leader), here it is:

Britney Spears refused to comment on it, but Paris Hilton was a bit ticked off. So, in retaliation she put together a spoof video.

Paris Hilton actually made me laugh, and not AT her for a change. “See you at the debates, bitches!”

  1. What I found most amusing about the whole situation is that Paris’s parents gave McCain’s campaign the highest donation possible, and then he turns around and dumps on their daughter like this. Nice. and Paris herself endorsed him.

That said, this response of hers is driving me a little bit nuts because the “energy policy” she suggests is misinformation that people are now parroting all over the place to criticize Obama. “Why can’t he just compromise like she says?” (Setting up offshore drilling now would not actually produce usable oil until after green technologies are already established, so it would not be something to hold us over. Even once it is producing, it wouldn’t be producing much at all. It would also increase the price of gas because of the added expense of more drilling sites. And “environmental controls”? There is no way to drill offshore in an environmentally friendly manner, and even if there were, the environmental control laws are in the toilet thanks to Bush.) Yes, I KNOW I take everything too seriously. heh.

  2. When Paris comes up with a solution that is actually better than that proposed by either candidate you start thinking about the sanity (insanity?) of running candidates from the polar extremes rather than from the center where most people exist. … and I LOVE that response.

That is what got me about it too. It is a misinformed notion that off shore drilling will magically fix our energy problems. If people drove more efficiently and started moving towards more efficient vehicles it would have a very real effect on gas consumption, which would in turn have a real effect on the amount of money we spend on gas.

I too tend to take things too seriously 😉
