Picking up our bad habits

I say “Oh my God” a lot, and so does George. The kids, naturally, have picked up on that. Hayley isn’t so bad – I can tell her to stop and she will for awhile and she’s also old enough to know that it may be offensive to some people and that she should respect that and try very hard not to say it. Breanna, though, is only two so she doesn’t get it and she walks around saying “Oh my God, what’s that?!” and “Oh my God, look at this!” and the like.

Which is bad enough, but then today Hayley burped after drinking some juice and Breanna turned to her with great indignation and said, “Hayley! Jesus Christ! What do you say?!”

I told George that I’m not sure whether this means we need to start taking the kids to church or just make sure they never EVER set foot in one.

  1. HAHAHA!!!! I’m pregnant with our first and am due May 11th (a girl – Caroline). I had to get my husband in here to read this post. We’re going to have to watch our mouths too! 🙂

  2. ROTFL. Seriously cracking up here. That sounds like our house, except that I managed to switch to “Oh dear” and “Oh my goodness” once we hit the parrot stage 😀

  3. haha. i have parrot problems too. i could so see this happening between abigail and stephanie.

stephanie knows not to say things just because we do, like you said hayley does, but abigail thinks she can get away with it still. she comes out with things like “jesus h!” and “oh my gowd!” and “fricky a duck”. the last one is her own creative interpretation, i have been known to say “frick” and or “f*ck a duck”
