Things that make you go "Whaaa?"

Sometimes I overthink things. This happens frequently with children’s things, such as television shows. Like Max and Ruby – where the hell ARE their parents anyway and do they know Ruby leaves Max alone in the bath? How long will Max put up with Ruby’s snotty attitude before he says “kiss my ass, bitch” and sets her on fire? These are the Big Questions keeping me up at night.

But today it’s a song. Who IS this old man? And why is he playing knick knack on all my body parts and my stuff? What does it MEAN anyway, this playing knick knack? Is he doing something dirty? Should I call the authorities and get them to take him in to sober up? Being drunk would explain why he came rolling home.

I think I should call my cable company and get them to replace the children’s networkd with Discovery and National Geographic so that I can watch some nice documentaries on Egyptian mummification rituals and plants in the rainforest. It’s entirely possible that I’m losing my mind a little. Let me know if you see it.

  1. Um, yeah. I hear ya. We just got Discovery put back on yesterday, and thankfully a few weeks ago Emma stopped watching Treehouse in favour of Teletoon.

Now she thinks she’s fighting space aliens, but at least it’s delusions of a different sort, and I can listen to shows I’ve heard only a dozen times, instead of a hundred times.

  2. I have been there so many times! I ask Bryn all the thime…why isn’t Dora and Diego in school? How did they learn all this without ever being in school? And why the heck does Dora’s mother let her wander all over the place with a freaking monkey?

Usually she just stares at me so I am guessing that my mind took a walk somewhere with yours!

  3. I am so with you on that Max & Ruby thing. In fact, DH and I are saying this stuff about that particular show so much, I had to share this post with him. And, he even laughed and said “No kidding!”

  4. What if Mama & Papa (Berenstain) Bear had had 2 boys instead of a boy and a girl? What would they have named the second boy? Brother II?
