This past weekend held some double-goodness. For one, it was Thanksgiving and Neal’s parents were coming down for the weekend. For another, Claire celebrated her half-birthday!<\/p>\n

The weather was absolutely gorgeous and felt more like summer than autumn, but we were still able to enjoy the colourful leaves. Neal’s parents arrived on Saturday afternoon, and we just took it easy and allowed them to enjoy their grand-daughter. On Sunday, we all slept in (thank you Claire!) a little bit, Neal made us french toast, and I got the turkey in the oven. One of the things I love about a turkey is that it’s much like the slow cooker: you do a bit of work at the beginning, but then once you put it in the oven there is little to be done until the very end.<\/p>\n

Since it was such a beautiful, hot day, we packed Claire up in her stroller and we all went for a nice long walk. We stopped at Tim Horton’s for lunch, then continued on to the Cole Harbour Heritage Farm<\/a>. Neal and I went there for the first time last year, but by then it had closed down for the season so the animals had all been moved to their winter homes.<\/p>\n

Claire really enjoyed riding the horsey!<\/p><\/div>\n

\"\"<\/a><\/p>\n

\"\"<\/a><\/p>\n

\"\"<\/a><\/p>\n

There is an old house at the farm as well with plenty of historic objects inside.<\/p>\n

That evening, after having worked up quite the appetite from having gone on a nice long walk, we sat down and ate a nice big turkey dinner!<\/p>\n

I always look forward to my in-laws coming down on a long weekend, but then all of a sudden, the weekend has flown by and they have to get ready to back home.<\/p>\n

In other news, how can it be that Claire is already six months old? Don’t get me wrong – she is so much fun as she is so alert and easy to play with, and I love seeing all of the changes and developments. But it also means that I am now over halfway through my maternity leave (::SOB::)! I really do enjoy my job, and part of me will enjoy going back and having some more adult interaction, but I know I will also miss Claire terribly, and I don’t really relish the idea of only having a couple of hours to spend with my daughter each weekday evening.<\/p>\n

Time just flies by so quickly. It’s hard to believe that Claire has gone from this:<\/p>\n
