Life with a toddler

Being two must be so hard. I asked Breanna if she’d like a cookie as a treat. She said yes, so I went to get it from the kitchen. While I was in there I offered one to Hayley too, and she also said yes.

Breanna walked in the kitchen and I handed her the cookie. She recoiled and basically reacted as though I had just offered her a delicious cup full of broken glass and rusty nails.

“NOOOOO! I DON’T WANT COOKIE MOMMY!” Then she crossed her arms and frowned and informed me, “I mad Mommy!”

Okay, fine. I turned away from her and gave it to Hayley. Almost immediately I felt a tug on my shirt. I looked down and she was peeping up at me with big, round eyes.

“I have a cookie too Mommy?”

I gave her one and before she ran off with it she squealed, “Oh! THANK you Mommy! You the best!”

From the living room she hollered, “I love you Mommy!”

I love you too, Bi-Polar girl.

  1. You are not kidding. Emotional, mind changing animals. Just wait til you have a 3 year old. The twos were nothing compared to this kid and his mind-changing at 3. He exhausts me with his antics and his father, omg, his father will nearly beat him half to death (j/k, his daddy just cries with him). I will be glad to be out of this phase.

Also, the other phase we are experiencing right now is the great “put me in your pocket and carry me everywhere you go because I can’t stand to be without you”. He is driving me insane. We own the daycare and Jace still acts like we are half killing him when I send him to his room. And, I know good and well he is being treated like a king in there.

OH well, I guess when I can’t even get him to kiss me on the cheek I’ll be mad about that phase too.

  2. I am going through the same thing with my 2.5 year old. Except our conversations are more like this:

” Would you like milk or juice to drink?”

    “Milk Mommy”

Then i give her milk and she throws a fit and says:

    “no I want juice”

Then when i give her juice, she wants milk again.

    Sigh. so indecisive!

  3. Whoa – not understanding women starts so young. All these years I thought it was me. lol

  4. I experience those everyday, most times i wonder how i manage to remain sane.I have twins 2 boys and a 4 yrs old son .I heard that it only gets better from 5 yrs, can’t wait for that time.
